Our Advisory Board members work closely with MSI’s highly experienced in-house project teams. Members share experience, provide independent expert opinion on technologies and research & development programs and assist in the commercialization of the MSI's life sciences applications and technologies.

Hillel T. Cohn J.D.

 

 

 

Corporate Attorney: Hillel T. Cohn is a partner in the Los Angeles offices of Morrison & Foerster LLP.  Mr. Cohn is a member of the Corporate Finance Group and specializes in securities offerings, SEC compliance and corporate governance. Mr. Cohn has advised technology, life science, financial services and entertainment companies with respect to securities offerings, corporate governance, SEC compliance, mergers, acquisitions and joint ventures.  Mr. Cohn earned a B.A. from Tufts University and J.D. from Harvard Law School.

Joseph Hacia Ph.D.

 

 

 

Molecular Biology:  Joseph G. Hacia is a Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the Institute for Genetic Medicine, Keck School of Medicine, and University of Southern California.  His current work focuses on the development of DNA microarray technology to screen for genetic and epigenetic changes in cancer cells and the identification of genes responsible for recently evolving complex human phenotypes.  He received his Ph.D. from the California Institute of Technology, Pasadena, CA, and completed post-doctoral training at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD.

G.P. Li
Ph.D.

 

 

 

Micro & Nano devices: G. P. Li is a Professor at the University of California, Irvine, Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Director of Integrated Nanosystems Research Facility (INRF). INRF is a world-class facility dedicated to the research and development of technology for integrated micro and nanosystems.  Dr. Li has extensive experience in collaborating with industries to develop micromechanical devices for various commercial applications.  Dr. Li received a Ph.D. from UCLA.

Wen Liu
J.D.

Patent Attorney: Liu & Liu is a law proprietorship that focuses on intellectual property and technology practice. Liu & Liu LLP was co-founded by Wen Liu, formerly at the international law firm of Morrison & Foerster LLP. Wen received an M.S. in Aeronautics and Astronautics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a J.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles.

David Sacks M.B., Ch.B., F.A.C.P.

 

 

 

Clinical Pathology: David B. Sacks is a Professor of Pathology at Harvard Medical School, and Director of POCT & Clinical Chemistry at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Professor Sacks has served on the Editorial Boards for Clinical Chemistry, and the American Journal of Clinical Pathology.  Dr. Sacks is well known in the field of rapid clinical assays.  He has extensive experience in performing rapid bedside assay by measuring biochemical markers. 

Steve Sommer
M.D., Ph.D.

 

 

 

Molecular Diagnostics: Dr. Sommers is Medical Director, City of Hope Clinical Molecular Diagnostic Laboratory, Duarte, CA.  He was a Resident, Surgical Pathology and Postmortem Section, at NCI, NIH and Professor of Molecular Biology at Mayo Foundation School of Medicine, Rochester, MN.  He received a Ph.D. from Rockefeller University, New York and M.D. from Cornell University Med. College.

Bob Wessel

 

 

Strategic Planning:  Mr. Wessel has global experience in the Clinical Diagnostics and Life Science markets. He was a V.P. of Sales and Marketing for Biocentrix (Culver City, CA) as well as Director, Strategic Planning, and Director, Strategic Marketing & Planning, at Beckman Coulter Inc. (Fullerton, CA). He was responsible for development of the strategic direction, objectives, market analysis, acquisition and planning processes for the Clinical Diagnostic Division. Mr. Wessel received a B. S. Degree in Microbiology & Bacteriology from UCLA.
